Day 56: Jan 20 - An historical day!

History was made on two fronts today! Katie got to experience her first snow, and the United States of America has it's first Black president! Katie and I watched him get sworn in [Katie was having her mid morning snack during that time, so no pics from the actual ceremony] and then we listened to his speech.

After that, we bundled up and headed outside to see the 2 inches of snow. I think it took us longer to get her bundled than the time we ended up spending outside. She did really well with it though and just smiled. In one of the pictures, you could see the snow flakes hitting her face making her blink.

Day 55: Jan 19 - All by myyyyyyselffffffff

Daddy left at 9am and Laura and the kids left at noon. From that point on, Katie and I are bachelorettes until Thursday afternoon! I am so nervous about having sole responsibility this week! No nudging DH at 5am to take over for a few hours while I catch up on Zzzzz's!

Day 54: Jan 18 - What's all that commotion outside?

The morning started off quite eventful with a fire down the street. Ethan and I went to investigate while Katie entertained everyone else.

As you can see below, Aunt Laura finally got some more snuggle time, but Packer wanted to make sure she wasn't left out. ;-)

In the afternoon, Katie stayed home with Daddy while the rest of us went to see the movie Paul Blart: Mall Cop. It was hilarious!!! I highly recommend it. Then again, I like that kind of humor!

Ellie has been very eager to help take care of Katie. So much so, in fact, that feeding, snuggling and burping wasn't enough. She even offered to change a poopy diaper! That lasted until the diaper was unsealed and then she squealed and ran off. Good thing I was nearby to grab the legs before they got too much poo on them. Later that night, Ethan and Ellie helped me give Katie a bath to remove any last residue.

Day 53: Jan 17 - It's my turn now!

"Can I hold Katie now?"
"No, it's my turn"
"No, you held her last time, it's my turn now"
"Fine, but I get to feed her next"

Apparently Ethan and Ellie like hanging out with their new cousin. ;-) After teaching her how to play Wii and taking turns feeding and burping her, we drove into town to visit a museum.

When we got back, Ellie started doing American Idol on Wii, but Katie was NOT impressed with her singing skillz, or lack thereof, so she fussed quite a bit. Ethan was able to keeep her content on her playmat though and at one point pulled up a pillow so that he could lay and snuggle next to her. Well, that's when he wasn't busy climbing the cat tree.

Day 50: Jan 14 - Jekyll and Hyde

Katie wasn't quite sure if she wanted to laugh or cry today! She started off in a pretty foul mood and spent a lot of time fussing and crying. Later in the morning, however, Daddy came to spend a few minutes with us and that perked her right up. She would look up at him whenever he'd speak and get a big ol' grin on her face!

Day 52: Jan 16 - Ethan and Ellie come to visit!

*Somebody* let Mommy sleep 4.5 consecutive hours last night!! I was thrilled and woke up so rejuvenated and alive! We even took a one hour nap together later in the day. How much longer until she lets Mommy get her usual [pre-Katie] 12 hours of consecutive sleep!

We spent the afternoon tidying up the house, because Laura, Ethan and Ellie are coming for the weekend to visit!!! Yay! They arrived at supper time, so Ellie did not hesitate to offer feeding Katie. She also spent the next two hours asking if she could burp her, change her diaper and dress her in addition to holding her again. ;-)

Day 51: Jan 15 - Welcome to Moe's!!

After her breakfast, Katie headed off for "coffee" with the gang. A local musician plays interactive songs for the kids every Wednesday morning. We were aimimg to get out the door by 9:30, but since we didn't actually get going until 10:15, Katie only got to dance to two of the songs. After everyone left, she ordered her coffee and milk, hold the coffee.

From there, we picked up Daddy and went to Moe's Southwest grill....Katie's treat!
