WEEK TWENTY-FIVE - Week of Aug 11 - It's not nice to scare mommy like that!

[Southeast Denver Pediatrics GLFU]
Aug 12
Check this out! Got the accident report.......
This witch told the cops: She [other driver] was travelling west bound in the center turn lane, making a left hand turn, with a green traffic light at the intersection. She advised that Unit 2 [me] "failed to yield the right of way" and hit her. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LADY, LADY, LADY! I had a green light, you had a green light, you did NOT however have a green ARROW light! You think I hit you when you were turning into my lane??? Um, how exactly does that work in your world?

Love the line from the cops: It was determined through investigation that both westbound and eastbound had a green traffic light at the time of the crash.

Umm, yeah we did, and neither of us had a green ARROW telling us to pull in the path of an oncoming vehicle. Dumb bimbo! No wonder she didn't come over to check on us to see if we were OK. She was too busy lying!

Aug 13
Baby Girl is sooooo grounded! She wasn't really moving today, and even after munching some M&Ms, she still wouldn't do much. As the day wore on, my neurotic self went into hyper-insanity drive. I'm at a peds practice, but I asked one of the nurses if they had a doppler or if only OBs had them. She wanted to know why I wanted to know, which then lead into me admitting that I was in the accident last week, and while Baby Girl had been moving quite a bit before, she was quiet today and I was getting nervous. She spoke to the doc, who called up a good OB buddy of his. I drove 15 min to their office...after business hours [yes, she was so sweet to wait around for me!] When I got there, she said, "I was going to put you on the monitor, but I thought the u/s would be more fun" Oh man, if only she were in NC and not Denver!!!! Anyway, Baby Girl was floppin' around like crazy. Her kicks? Into my placenta, thus why I couldn't feel them. I watched her kick, but yet I couldn't feel it. The real stinker part of it? Once I got out to the car to drive back to the hotel, she whacked me so hard I could feel it by my hand on my belly! What a little brat!!!!She is so in trouble when she comes out!

WEEK TWENTY-FOUR - Week of Aug 4 - Baby Girl's first shower...and ambulance ride

[Knightdale RedE customization, Boston trip]
Aug 4
What better way to start the week but than to get a massage. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! The plan is to start our drive up to Boston on Tuesday night and finish it on Wednesday afternoon. I'm going to try and get my work done before and during the drive so that once we get up there, I can enjoy spending time catching up with my friends. My computer decided to completely DIE this weekend though, which set me back quite a bit on getting my work done.

Aug 5
We finally headed out, and we made pretty good time. We stopped for the night in Aberdeen, MD, and we'll leave again in the morning so that we can avoid the Philly, NYC, NJ traffic and hopefully get to MILs before 5pm.

Aug 6
Well that didn't turn out well! The good news is Baby girl is progressing well. The bad news is I know this from the ER ultrasound.

We pulled over about 11 last night and then started off at 8am this morning. At 9:45, DH was begging for me to stop and find a restroom. We were about an hour north of Philly when I pulled off and found a Burger King. We were heading back to the interstate and as I was coming up on a green light intersection, I saw a car starting to pull in my lane [she was coming from the other direction and was in a turn lane, but not a green arrow turn lane]. I remember thinking, "ok, let me think, how can I avoid this"? I swerved to the right lane [without even checking for a car, luckily there wasn't one there] and tried to speed up to avoid her, but she just kept coming. Then I thought, "Crap, I'm not going to avoid this" CRASH, POP! The airbags broke the windshield, and the force knocked us further into the other lane, and I was slamming on the brakes, but the van kept skidding....towards a power pole. I was cranking the wheel and slamming the brakes, and was SO lucky that we stopped right before the pole. Then my next thought was, "Damn, why'd this have to happen in a rental?!?!" We both sat stunned for a few minutes. There were lots of cars trying to get by us, so I crawled out of the passenger side. I never saw the front of the van, but DH said it wasn't too bad. Just the driver's wheel well. Her car was very banged up. She was still in the middle of the intersection, so I walked up the sidewalk to see if she was OK. She gave me a thumbs up as she was getting out of her car. I know she had a hard time getting out, but I don't remember seeing exactly what the car looked like. [kinda still stunned at that point] I went and sat back down by the van to wait for the cops to arrive. From the moment of impact, the thing that hurt the most was my right forearm from where the airbag whacked it. Since I was preparing for impact, my body was very rigid, and I was gripping hard to the steering wheel, so it whacked me pretty good. I also hurt where the shoulder seat belt tightened up. All in all, that was the biggest extent of our physical "damages". Both of us have stiff necks, and I have an amazing headache, but that's about it. They listened for Baby Girl on doppler first, and just when the nurse would lock in on the heartbeat, she'd swim away! hahaha! She was doing very well on the u/s. Heartbeat is normal, and she's measuring right where I think she should be [I have EDD of Nov 30 based on O date, but Doc has it as Dec 2 from LMP date] After leaving the hospital, we took a cab an hour back to Philly to get a new mini van. The people at Hertz were amazing. They even upgraded us with Neverlost! I hope they don't get too mad when they realize we left the van somewhere in PA and the middle row seats for it are in our garage in NC. hahahahha!

Anyway, at 5pm, we were right back to where we were at 10am this morning. We unfortunately got stuck in traffic in all of the towns we were trying to avoid it in. I have to say I'm still so grateful that it wasn't worse than it was! I'm glad I was driving, I'm glad we had seatbelts on. I'm glad it happened in the morning. I'm glad it happened on the drive up and not the drive home. I'm glad we were in a massive mini-van. I'm glad I wasn't further along in the PG. I'm glad we opted NOT to bring the kids [can you imagine two cats in the ER following an MVA] I'm glad it only happened at 40mph and not 80mph. Man, for accidents, I have to say this one was well done.

Aug 7
I drove down and stopped by the VNA to see everyone before meeting up with Jeanne and Karen for supper. It was SO AWESOME seeing them again! I miss their humor and their intellgience and their support. It's great to hear they're both doing well though!

Aug 9
Can I just say I have been SO BLESSED to have the most amazing friends.....and the most amazing BFF!!!! My friend threw me a shower and invited all of my buddies from the Nest. I was blown away by how generous everyone was!! Some of the gals that showed up, I had never met before in my life! I was showered with so many awesome presents, and it was so great to catch up with everyone again.
I did not expect such an outpouring of friendship, and I am so absolutely grateful to each of them!!!!

WEEK TWENTY-THREE - Week of July 28 - SHE KICKED ME

[Practice Management Associates GL-Pocahontas]

July 27
It's OK to cry, right? I mean, cry for no reason? DH walked in on me trying to swallow down some mashed potatoes as I had tears coming down my face. He wanted to know what was wrong, and I couldn't tell him. Everything and nothing! I figured my best course of action was to take Bob Cat with me upstairs and just lay on the bed and watch Last Comic Standing. Well that led to another marathon nap, which will further skew my sleep patterns and make me feel guilty for not being productive. Man it's a never-ending cycle, isn't it!

July 30
Awww, I got a sweet Good Night IM from MH
DH: going to bed
DH: love you
DH: and little Baby Girl!
awwwwww

Aug 1

SHE KICKED ME!!!! On Aunt Laura's birthday nonetheless! I was waking up in the hotel room and before I could fully get up, I felt quite the WHACK! Apparently she was tired of me hitting the snooze button and wanted me to get up.

Aug 2
Now Baby Girl is kicking Bob Cat! He came to snuggle and laid down on my belly on the right side. Next thing I know, I feel her starting to kick on that side! Awwww!

I also went to my first children's consignment sale today. Baby Girl got some MAJOR bargains! Methinks me will quickly become addicted to these sales!

WEEK TWENTY-TWO - Week of July 21 - The Baby Book arrives

[Tallahassee Primary Care ST/GL]
I broke down and bought some expensive shoes this weekend......they're like BUTTAH!!!! and I thought maternity pants rawked my world!

I also got my shipment of books from Barnes and Noble, including a gift for MH. I think he's going to get a kick out of this baby book, since it attempts to capture the milestones he's more interested in celebrating, like the first time Baby Girl poops on someone and a pocket to house a disgusting memento instead of the first lock of hair.

WEEK TWENTY-ONE - Week of July 14 - There's something growing inside of me....and it has a heartbeat

[Urology Specialty Care GL]
July 16
As I was talking to MH, I confided in him that I had a very profound thought today.
ME: I realized I actually have a creature growing inside of me!
MH: You're just now realizing this?
ME: Yes, yes I am
MH: :::Chortle:::
ME: Hey, you knew when you were getting into this relationship that you were getting eye candy! Not a genius at work, but eye candy!

July 18
At my MD appt, I learned that I've only gained 2.8 pounds, and I have an anterior placenta, Oh, she also wants me to buy support hose and nursing shoes. There goes my potential of being "discovered" as THE next PG model! Then again, when my feet were hurting SO bad that I went in to the client's site with flip flops and black socks, I probably shot my chances anyway!

Apparently, she's also breech, so she's just kicking fluid around and not actually hitting me, and if she did manage to get a kick on me, she'd be kicking the placenta, which is in the front, so I wouldn't feel it anyway. The Doc said maybe in a few more weeks when she runs out of room, then I'll start to feel it more.

Where on earth did this belly come from, anyway?!?!?! I discovered this while shopping for clothes....luckily I was in the dressing room of Motherhood Maternity when I spotted it!

Check out the sound of the heartbeat below..

WEEK TWENTY - Week of July 7 - Reflux and belching and popping out, oh my!

[Urology Specialty Care ST]
July 8
Funny! MH tried to hear the hb this weekend by putting his head up to my tummy. After my spotting freak out, he wanted to see if he could hear the heartbeat, so he made me lay on the bed and he put his ear on my belly. Oh bless his heart! Good thing he's cute! hahahaha! I asked a doc today if I'd be able to hear the hb with a stethescope and if I did, would I know it was the baby's or would I hear mine and think it was Baby Girl's. He said closer to 30 weeks and I'd be able to pick it up better. That just makes MH's actions even funnier!
Dear Baby Girl....
I wasn't real impressed when you constantly made mommy's tummy sick. Now that you're giving her AF cramps? Well that's just down right cruel. Please stop.....PLEASE! Oh, the acid reflux and belching, while a nice touch, they're really overkill!
July 11

Can someone keep MH upstairs for a few more minutes while I snarf down this apple pie from McD's I bought last night at the airport? TIA!!!!I do fully intend to walk the wrapper out to the big dumpster outside and bury it under the lawn clippings to fully hide my tracks! Yup, I'm that pathetic!

I think I finally "popped" this week. I can't suck in my belly any more, and I've only put on three pounds since I got PG, so I'm guessing this is all baby [and not that McD's apple pie]. I can't stop pulling up my shirt and looking and poking. hahah!

In preparation for my shower, I've done a TON of research to build my registry, so I figured it was time to take MH to Babies R Us to make some final decisions. He was a trip! I wanted to make sure everything was safe enough for his little girl, so he banged and beat up every item I showed him. I've never seen a stroller go on two wheels and then flop on its side before. I think the BRU employees were very happy when we finally left the premise!

WEEK NINETEEN - Week of June 30 - Becoming "one of those women"

[Southeast Denver Pediatrics GL]
The AF cramping and sore feet continue on, and now I've discovered that I grunt whenever I'm bending. Yeah, that's attractive! ;-)

I got to meet Choirgirl from the TTC35 board on this week's trip. We had a nice evening out talking and learning about each other, since she's right behind me in her pregnancy. The best part, she knows ALL the amazing ice cream shops!

July 4
I got back home from my Denver trip on at 1am! I woke up around 11am and worked hard to prepare for July 4 party we were hosting. I made the mistake of attempting to lift heavy objects and do lots of bending over and then staying up until 1am when the party finally wrapped up. That naturally led to my back and feet aching pretty bad. The next day, I started AF cramping again, so I spent the day vegged on couch. Unfortunately the vegging and crazy hours caused me to miss my massage. That's the first time I've done that, and man could I have used that massage.

July 6
In hindsight, it's probably a good thing I missed my massage though. I woke up to some brownish spotting in the morning and continued AF cramping. I always said I wasn't going to be "one of those women", but after an hour, guess who broke down in tears freaked out about the spot! I ended up calling the OB on call, and he said as long as the cramping didn't get worse or any more bleeding appear, especially if it switches to red, then I should be fine. That made me feel a lot better! I think had I gone to my massage, I would have attributed my bleeding to that instead of the overdoing it I did while planning for the party.
