Day 102: Mar 7 - Surveying the Kingdom
Thank goodness it was a beautiful day today, so that helped my spirits. I ran around like a mad woman today trying to get everything ready for me to start my new job on Monday. Daddy told me that if it was going to cause me so much anguish [you did read yesterday's post re: the fetal position sobbing, right?] that I shouldn't take the job. That is so tempting, and I appreciate him giving me an out, but I'm pretty sure this is something I *need* to do. I don't want to be one of those mothers that develops an unhealthy attachment to their child, so I'm sure transitioning her into daycare and getting me back to work will ultimately be the best thing for both of us. It's just so much harder than I thought it would be!

Day 101: Mar 6 - This mommy gig is hard!!!
We just couldn't resist stocking up on some Dawg gear while we were in Georgia!
Today was a dark, dark day for Mommy, despite the new gear. Katie spent the afternoon kicking away on her playmat, happy as can be, while Mommy laid beside her in the fetal position sobbing. How on earth am I going to go back to work and leave my precious adorable baby in someone else's care?!
I had to leave my last job because I couldn't travel 100% with a newborn. I just got accepted for a new position that begins next Monday. Ever since I got the offer last Thursday, I start to break down in tears thinking about sending my sweet baby to daycare. She's 3 months old, and we've kinda gotten used to spending our days together. How on earth am I going to be able to leave her with someone else during the day. Will they appreciate her smacking on her hands like I do? Will they take billions of pictures of her to upload to her blog? Will they give her kisses and steal the sugar on the back of her neck? UGH! I did NOT think it was going to be this hard! It's also going to be a mentally stimulating job, and while I'm sure that will help distract me from missing her, I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up mentally. I don't *have* to go to work, but this opportunity is too great to pass up, especially in this economy. UGH! This mommy thing is just going to keep getting harder like this, isn't it!?

Day 100: Mar 5 - Daddy, I missed you!!!
On our final morning at Grammy's house, Katie made sure she got plenty o' snugglin' in. I'm not sure who is going to miss whom more between Katie and Grammy. We also made sure to get a mini-photo shoot in. The highchair Katie's in has hosted almost every grandchild for a picture. It has descended down through the family traced back to at least my Dad's Grandmother. Yes, my adorable three month old was sitting in a family heirloom over 100 years old!
After a pit stop in Charlotte at Ikea where Katie picked up a few things for her room and a cute tent for a future beach trip, we attempted one more photo shoot with Laura Brett. SUCCESS!!! The pictures she took were stunning. I was there, and I didn't think Katie looked that cute as she was taking them. I just can't stop staring at them! [Oh, and don't think the contrast between Laura's photoshoot and my own escaped me. You get what you pay for]
Once we got home, Daddy made a beeline for his baby girl and couldn't stop kissing her and snuggling on her. Methinks someone really missed his baby. Me, on the other hand, I was chopped liver. I *think* he said "welcome home" but probably not. He was too busy adoring Katie to notice me. ;-)

Day 99: Mar 4 - The ultimate birth control!
Heaven help me! I was stuck in a lunch room with a hundred screaming, hyper fourth graders. Is this what I have to look forward to??? I met up with Ellie at her school for lunch while Grandma and Katie chilled out at home. Katie is enjoying playing with Packer Jr much more now that she knows how to work her hands and arms.
Katie is continuing to not sleep well, which means I am not sleeping well. Daddy's been begging us to cut our trip short so that I can get back and check out daycares before we enroll her next week. I think it's more that he misses his little angel and doesn't want to go another day without her. Either way, we decided to head back home tomorrow.
Day 98: Mar 3 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRAMMY!!!
We made sure to get some great Grammy snuggling in to help Grammy ring in her 70th birthday right. She chattered quite a few stories for her as well.
It was no surprise that Grammy chose a Mexican restaurant for her celebration lunch choice. Her friend Sandy from South Dakota was on her way through, so she joined us. Don't tell Daddy that Grandma put a little taste of ice cream on Katie's lips. I didn't figure it was any worse damage than the dozens of Krispy Kreme doughnuts we shared while she was in utero. Following lunch, we set out to do some second hand shopping in Athens, Grammy's all-time favorite activity!
Before we headed back to Aunt Laura's for supper and more Toby-licking sessions, Katie had to undergo a wardrobe change. All of the shopping and celebrating of the day must have worn her out, because she was zonked on the bed looking so cute while I was changing her. I sent a picture to Daddy who quickly responded back with the message:
"The adorablity factor is off the chart!"
Yes, Daddy, yes it is!

Day 97: Mar 2 - Puppy kisses
What better way to wake up than snuggled in Grammy's arms! There was still snow on the ground from yesterday's "storm", so we bundled up and headed over to Aunt Laura's to spend time with the kids while they were home from school and celebrate Grandma's pre-birthday. Ethan made an awesome "snow deer" in the front yard out of the leftover snow.
Katie also got the opportunity to meet Toby. Boy did he looooooove Katie. Well more specifically, he loved licking Katie, and they took turns smacking on her hands. She just sat and stared in awe at him, not phased one bit.
I texted Daddy telling him that Katie was really mesmerized with watching WWE on TV. He wrote back and said that was "Daddy's little redneck girl". ;-)

Day 96: Mar 1 - The night the lights went out in Georgia
What better way to start the day but to snuggle in Grammy's big ol' bed! In the afternoon, I went to the movie with Laura and Ellie, so Grandma and Katie got some quality girl time. I think Katie spent the entire time snuggled in Grandma's arms getting spoiled. ;-)
While we were in the movie theatre, the snow started piling up outside. Laura was in a big ol' truck, and she still managed to get stuck in Mom's driveway. It was really heavy snow with big flakes, so no surprise that the power went out. Katie was awesome at snuggling and keeping me warm. Just as I put her in some extra layers, including an adorable kitty outfit, the power came back on.
I got a text message from Daddy today with the subject line, "What is a cat to do on a rainy day". Inside was a picture of Bob Cat and Packer both curled up on our bed snoozing. They looked quite cozy, and I'm sure relieved to have some peace and quiet around the house.
